Ringer Ringer

A little about myself         Played some guitar when I was younger. Now Im old and grey. Playing the Harp was a New Years Resolution for 2008. Turning out to be much harder than I thought. Grateful for all Ive learned from various internet resources especially this one and Adam Gussow.

   --MoCheeks

I Hear Ya Mabel May
''Playing and singing were well done Dan. You have improved a lot in your last bunch of posts. One critique would be to keep the harp back with the track a little more. A little too loud on this take. IMHO. Good post!!''

''PJ's suggestions were fine ones and you did it well too. Nice tone and good reading of the track's mood...''
   --Bluesie

Lace n Cotton
''Good sound through the Kalamazoo. In that direction, liked TJ's comment on equalizer use. I think that you're choking off the notes rather than carrying them through as you push from the diaphragm''
   --Eric Stahl

''lots of solid ideas here - like the way you used the bt changes and played to them - interesting intro - cool!! - very different but thought you did well with it!!''
   --htrain

Scented Melody
''I think you did a nice job with it. You had the chord changes down and picked up a recurring melody. Maybe with something like this you could go for a clearer, less harsh harp sound but that is just the software etc. Nice job.''
   --Hey Jude

Scented Melody
''Glad you decided to take the plunge Ringer..... what doesn't kill ya etc etc... Picked out some nice lines, might like to look into a decent EQ and Multi-band compressor to help with the tone. Nice post''

   --BlueInGreen

Big Ds Club n Ballroom
''Fun lyrics and cool, upbeat harp playing man.''
   --Lips Angelo

Big Ds Club n Ballroom
''I don't like the way I worded that, since I didn't mean to not record. I'll often focus on practicing a brief difficult passage a number of times over, and then record along with the whole bt - whether I got that passage, or the whole bt, down or not :-)''
   --Eric Stahl

Big Ds Club n Ballroom
''You're sounding good for coming round to a year on the harp - playing with energy. This one a little slower in places than the bt. Work on phrasing - pick a difficult bar or three at a time and practice repeatedly, working on timing, and then record''
   --Eric Stahl

Big Ds Club n Ballroom
''Yep your hard work seems to be paying off since i was last on the jam..keep that foot tapping for the timing.Good stuff''

''liked the tone - sounded uncertain in the flow - nice sustained note bleeds - expression got better as song went on - lots of good ideas here!!!''
   --htrain

Big Ds Club n Ballroom
''Love the spirit and energy in this. Fun vocals and nice bouncy harp. My only suggestion is what Davey G tells me all the time: work on flow to smooth your playing out. Easier on the slow tunes of course.''
   --Brett

Big Ds Club n Ballroom
''Nicely laid down for such a fast paced tune.''
   --Mc7

Big Ds Club n Ballroom

''Some good stuff going on Ringer. I would focus on hit all notes cleanly andeveloping a melodic theme more in advance, then use it to create variations in each chorus, something I'm working on as well. It seemed at times you were not sure where to go next.''
   --Brett

Shazzaazz Man
''I like the Head-shake effects at 1:46 to 2:02''
   --Barry B

Denzils Swiing
''You got a Bemsha feel to this. A little repetitive after the intro, but pretty good swing. Amped tone fit well too. You are getting that harp to say what you want it to. A bold effort that paid.''

   --roknwil

Denzils Swiing
