Ringer Ringer

A little about myself         Played some guitar when I was younger. Now Im old and grey. Playing the Harp was a New Years Resolution for 2008. Turning out to be much harder than I thought. Grateful for all Ive learned from various internet resources especially this one and Adam Gussow.

''You made a complete song out of this with the right atmosphere and good sound. Your main melodic motif was good but maybe a little repetitious -- at least you had one though!Have you been practicing by any chance? ;)''

''This grew on me as it went on. Alluring vox to go with that harp.''

''First of all pickled herring should not be anywhere near our mouths. Vocals were very good. You've got some good harp suggestions already. I thought it was not bad except for a bit of a sloppy part in the middle. Keep up the good work!''

Translucent Sin yo Rita
''Nice package. OH Oh OH oH. Vocals fit in great.''
   --Brown Ale Guy

Translucent Sin yo Rita
''Playing is a bit hesitant, but definitely some good melodic ideas. Have to disagree with Mark Wilson about the blues scale. Lots of other possibilities with other scales that'll work great with this BT! ''
   --Appleman Ed

Translucent Sin yo Rita
''Really loved the vocals. This was a good smooth ride. Work on the single notes as suggested. I'm continually working on this myself. I never would have though tongue and mouth shape would make so much of a difference in harp playing.''
   --Mc7

Translucent Sin yo Rita
''I think you need to focus on the blues scale. Get the intonation, and bends down and stay within that scale until you're ready to move on. Good vocals!!!''
   --Mark Wilson

Translucent Sin yo Rita
''You made a good mix. I really like this "parcel"''
   --Midnight

''I hope you ate that pickled herring Dan. Liked the way you laid out the vocal lines, very tasty. Harp had decent sound. Work on hitting the single notes a little cleaner too, it'll polish up your sound as well.''

''cool vox - nice tone on harp - some note choices ??? - thought it worked!!''

''Not bad. Some nice notes being played... however a little confusing with the Ho-Ho-Ho... is this a christmans carol? Just kidding. Enjoyed it.''

''Harp good. Vocals good. It's all good. Certaintly your prettiest playing I've heard.''
   --Mc7

Woman of the Night
''Ringer, I think of the first position like singing the melody. It is what I whistle. You are playing with the bt not against it like with the 2nd or 3rd. Maybe I will try this bt and put it on Open Mic.''
   --Blueshiner

Woman of the Night
''man ,your hell of a voice!and moodyful harpings makes this a pro-take!great!seldom heard a similar 1rst pos play on such a bt!lol''

''Loved it Ringer...excellent well thoughtout words and good overall performance''
   --P-J

Woman of the Night
''Well done vocals! I thought the harp needed to be softer to fit in - not what you played - but how it was recorded. Or maybe the volume in the mix was just too high?''

''Good variety of techniques. Keep working, you're getting better.''

''Hey I heard some improvement going on in that. Encourage you to play intentionally (have a melody in mind) rather than just free flow. Good work.''

''You are really starting to put some melody and rhythm together nicely! Good one. It is coming together.''
   --BlueInGreen

Texas Blues
''I can hear you doing some lead then dropping back to do some light chugging. Way to try and change things up Ringer. Try to work some of the low end for some grunt too.''

''By golly you are moving right along. Tone had much more depth and body to it than earlier posts. Playing has improved. Hear the makings of a real jammin harp player comming from you. Felt some parts didn't quite fit the BT's chord changes.''

''some good spots but abit of a ramble...I couldnt find a central theme or melody...keep harpin''
   --Steph Wilson

''Not too bad Ringer, but you've done better. Seemed hesitant in a lot of spots. Good feeling though.''
   --Lips Angelo

Ex-tro-V-erte-D
''A bit too European for me. BT sounds like early 80's synth bands when they just started out. Harp follows when it should have sounded different.''
   --Naptown Blue

Ex-tro-V-erte-D
''Cool sound, but didn't really catch the groove.Try keeping a constant rhythmic pattern going over the track and then subbing in melody and leaving space.''
   --BlueInGreen

Ex-tro-V-erte-D
''You got the right idea for the arrangement. I enjoyed it a lot. Some high notes did make the ear wax balls roll out my ear. And I think you should play in those stops aggressively. Just my taste.''

Ex-tro-V-erte-D
''A good learning excercise and one you did well to stay with. I suspect you found a few new routes you can take in the future on similar B/T's''

''A little smoother flow will come in time with practice but you did a great job on this one. Really enjoyed listening to it.''
   --Mc7

''good rhythmic variations keeps it interesting - good to leave spaces where you did - warbles working well - you thought your way through this one and it came off well - keep working at the flow!!''

''Timing is a bit stiff, but not too bad. Nice post.''
   --Appleman Ed

Ex-tro-V-erte-D
''Really jammin BT, Dan. The more you play, the easier it will be to follow the I,IV,V blues progression. Your tone will get there too as long as you keep at it. Keepem rollin.''
